Just found out that we can selectively search the members here on the forum.
For instance, we can find all of the members here who play a certain type of instrument by doing the following:
Click on Members List above.
Click Search Members and then Advanced Search
Click the Primary Instrument/Association drop down box and choose the type of instrument you want to search on.
Click the Search Now button at the bottom of the Search page.I just tried this and arbitrarily chose Alto Sax. Hi D's (Hi Heidi!) name was the only one to come up (how come there aren't more alto players on the site?).

Anyway, just an FYI. Have fun!

Yep that's a cool feature that wasn't on the old forum before :D.

BTW Mr. Mitts, did you limit the abilities for newer users to upload avatars or pictures in their signatures? I'm kind of having trouble...and I've used forums before...

Unless I'm just a out of it right now....but hopefully not .

I believe the avatars for new members are disabled.
You just have to wait a couple of hours [or one day?] for you to have that feature added into your account.
Well, that's what happened to me, at least.
And I think adding images into your signature is also disabled for new members.
You have to wait a few hours for that as well.

PS: Advice for adding images into your signature;
Don't use the Signature Picture feature once you have that included into your membership,
because it only allows a certain size to be uploaded.
I recommend using the IMG code for it.
It does not have a limitation, and you can upload anything with it!

Hi Michael, nice to see you! :)

Mr. Mitts, did you limit the abilities for newer users to upload avatars or pictures in their signatures? I'm kind of having trouble...and I've used forums before...

This is vBulletin... and I don't think I did  lemme check...
Profile pictures are enabled
Avatars are enabledHmm.. I don't know... I'll keep checking. vB's pretty extensive. It could very well be I missed something (like an avatar setting).

Anyway, hope all is well with you!

Take care...

[Edit]
OK... just found it. You're right, Michael, I had custom avatars shut off. Try it now and see if it works for you.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

Thanks Mr. Mitts!

And yeah Jessica I as using the [/IMG] for it...but the link just kept showing up instead of the picture :p, cause I don't have permission to use the code yet.

OK, I'm confused
I thought I fixed the avatar issue. Is it not fixed? In other words, can you still not use a custom avatar?

Oh no, the avatar issue is fixed :D. Sorry for the misunderstanding. You can see mine now, it's an AMD X2 Processor ^_^.

The [/IMG] code I was referring too was for people to set images in their signatures (usually a link to a different site). Like Jessica can add images in her signature because she has permission to use that code, but regular users don't (at least I don't think so because that's what it says when I try hehe).

Sorry about that :D

OK, try it now and let me know.

Hmm well I can now upload an image, but the [IMG] code is still disabled. :( Uploading is more of a hassle because there are limitations on how big the picture can be, but the [IMG] doesn't care about that.

OK, cool...

Now, you think you might be able to make you're whole sig area a bit smaller (maybe resize the pic)? That 'Wicked' pic takes up a lot of room! ;)

Thanks!

Perfect!

Glad we got it working. :)

BTW.. you can see I've set up a 'forum help' area. Trying to keep things organized as I learn this new software.

the link for image shack is: http://www.imageshack.us
it's an image hosting website where you can upload images, & it will give you back its link and code.
you can also try tiny pic: http://www.tinypic.com
they both work well, but tiny pic's bandwidth expires earlier.

I LOVE tinypic and I use it all the time. I don't know since tinypic changed a lot from some time ago, but although it DIDN'T save the image you uploaded, it was easy and fast. Photobucket takes a lot of time, and has a longer url. :D

Imageshack is best, I think; because of tinypic's shorter bandwith.
